Doug McGrath was born and raised in southeast Michigan. Art, music and skateboarding were his passions. He was the kid in school who turned in school work with doodles all over the margins. Growing up in a culture of labor unions he was always told he wouldn’t be able to make a living doing art or music. He later found that wasn’t true at all.

As a rebellious teen he was in a few bands in the punk rock scene of the early 90’s in Detroit and as an artist he created all of the bands artwork for demo cds and flyers for shows. Tattoos were just part of it. He fell in love with the imagery and the idea that it was possible to literally wear your heart on your sleeve!

Now 13 years after completing his apprenticeship, he still loves tattooing and the idea we have the control to change our bodies to reflect how we feel on the inside. “I try everyday to be a better artist and a better person. I love learning new techniques and will always strive to give the best tattoos I can.”

Doug is proficient in most styles of tattooing. He specializes in photorealism and American Traditional.
